Building Confident Futures: Standout Foundation and Radiate Empower Young People Through Life Skills

Children and young people participate in a learning session at the Youngsters Conference in Lagos, organised by Standout Foundation and Radiate to develop confidence, financial literacy, emotional intelligence and other practical life skills.

LAGOS, Nigeria – Standout Foundation partnered with Radiate to organise The Youngsters Conference, a Life Skills and Capacity Development Conference that brought together nearly 100 children and young people between the ages of 7 and 17 in Lagos, Nigeria.

The conference was organised under Standout Foundation’s Life Skills and Talent Development area of impact and was designed to equip young people with practical skills that can support their personal growth, confidence, decision-making and future development.

Through the partnership, Standout Foundation and Radiate created an interactive learning environment where children and teenagers could engage with important life skills beyond what they may ordinarily learn in the classroom. Participants took part in sessions focused on personal branding and etiquette, financial literacy and emotional intelligence. The sessions were designed to be practical, engaging and age-appropriate, giving participants an opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences and reflect on how the lessons could be applied to their everyday lives.

Through its Life Skills, Leadership and Talent Development programming, Standout Foundation seeks to create opportunities that help children and young people develop practical skills, discover their potential and become more confident in making decisions about their future.

The collaboration with Radiate also demonstrated the importance of partnerships in expanding access to meaningful learning experiences for young people. By working together, both organisations were able to combine their strengths and create a platform where children and teenagers could learn, interact and grow in a supportive environment.

The Youngsters Conference was not only about delivering training. It was also about giving young people the opportunity to think differently about themselves and the choices they make. Whether learning how to communicate with confidence, make better financial decisions or understand and manage emotions, participants were introduced to skills that can continue to support them as they grow. The event also created space for participants to reflect on their strengths, values, talents and aspirations, while building the confidence to take greater responsibility for their personal development.

For nearly 100 young people who took part, the conference offered an opportunity to learn outside the traditional classroom while building knowledge and confidence that can be applied in their homes, schools and communities. The event also strengthened Standout Foundation’s growing commitment to supporting children and young people across Africa through strategic partnerships and programmes that focus on practical learning and personal development.

The Foundation believes that children should not only be given access to education, but should also be equipped with the confidence, skills and opportunities they need to navigate life, develop their talents and reach their full potential. Through its partnership with Radiate and initiatives such as the Youngsters Conference, Standout Foundation continues to create opportunities for young people to learn, grow and prepare for the future with greater confidence.
