WHAT WE DO
STEM Education & Innovation

At Standout Foundation, we believe that STEM education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is essential for preparing all children and young people to succeed in a fast-changing world. STEM learning builds problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking, digital literacy, and innovation, all of which are increasingly important for education, employment, and community development.
Our STEM Education Initiatives aim to spark curiosity, strengthen foundational and applied skills, and expand opportunities for children, especially girls and underserved learners, to explore science and technology with confidence. Through practical learning experiences, mentorship, exposure to role models, and access to STEM tools and resources, we want to help students see themselves as future innovators, creators, and leaders. UNESCO highlights that promoting girls’ access to quality STEM learning, along with teacher training and mentorship, is key to advancing gender equality in education and science.

Closing the Gender Gap
Closing the Gender Gap
This investment is urgent. UNESCO reports that women make up only 35% of STEM graduates globally, a figure that has remained unchanged for about a decade, showing that the gender gap in STEM begins early and continues into higher education and careers. UN Women also notes that women account for just 29.2% of all STEM workers, underscoring the need to encourage more girls and young women to pursue STEM pathways from an early age.

The Future of Work Is Already Here

STEM education also matters because the future of work is changing rapidly. The World Economic Forum reports that 170 million new jobs are expected to be created globally by 2030, while 39% of workers’ core skills are expected to change by 2030.
The same report identifies AI and big data, networks and cybersecurity, and technology literacy among the fastest-growing skills for the years ahead. These trends make early exposure to STEM and digital skills increasingly important for children’s long-term readiness and opportunity.

Our Commitment
Through this pillar, Standout Foundation seeks to make STEM more accessible, inclusive for all, and inspiring. By helping children build confidence in science and technology, we invest in a generation that is better prepared to solve problems, embrace innovation, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the wider world. This is not only an education priority — it is an equity and future-readiness priority.
